Putting the "A" in Service

Certainly, services are a good way to provide common functionality. But generally, we are expecting more. We want services to be combined together and to support business processes. And we are necessarily expecting that services will be implemented by different groups, and that service consumers and providers may be in different organizations. While the implementation of a service is important, SOA should be at least as concerned with the interaction of services and the totality of services as it is about any individual service.
